Seoul Nowon United head coach Lee Chun-seok cites ‘desperation’ as a weapon after his side overturned a deficit to win for the first time in 11 games.
Seoul Nowon United won their 2023 K4 League Round 19 match against Yeoju FC 3-1 on Monday at Nowon Maddle Stadium. The win, their first in 11 matches, puts Seoul Nowon in 12th place in the K4 League with 14 points.
Seoul Nowon scored two goals in the first half to take the lead. In the 12th minute, Kim Yeon-wang, who was in front of the goal, scored the first goal with an exquisite header into the top corner from Kim Hyun-seung’s left cross. Then, in the 37th minute of the first half, Yoo Cheong-in conceded a header to even the score. 메이저사이트
In the 42nd minute, Lee Jun-kyu’s alley-cross and Jeong Gun-woo’s one-on-one finish put Seoul Nowon ahead again. In the final minute of the tense match, Kim Kyung-ho connected with a precise header from a corner kick to seal the victory.
Lee Chun-seok, the head coach of Seoul Nowon, told the Korea Football Association, “The results have not been as good as the process, and there were parts where the morale of the players dropped because we kept losing when it looked like we were going to win. Today, desperation worked well in the game. Beating the No. 1 team 3-1 will have a big impact on our future results,” he said after the victory.
After scoring just two goals in their last seven matches, Seoul Neowon quenched their thirst for goals with three in one game. “We prepared to be aggressive in the first half and analyzed our opponent a lot,” said Lee. The opponent pressured us a lot in the first half, so it worked out well for us to look for the space in the back. Above all, I think the players were not afraid and played with confidence, so we were able to score three goals,” he said.
Kim Kyung-ho, who scored the team’s third goal, said, “On set pieces, I try to get involved in the attack. The corner kick went out to the side, but I thought another cross would come in, so I didn’t go down to the defense, and I scored. As a defender, I don’t get many chances to score goals, so it feels good to be able to do so,” he said of his goal.
During the introduction of the home team’s players before the game, Kim Kyung-ho was described as a veteran. “My older brothers are helping me a lot. Most of the players on the field are younger than me. The team hasn’t won in three or four months, so it’s my job to encourage them and lift their spirits more than anything else.”
