Tottenham Hotspur coach Luis Enrique, who was mentioned as a candidate for the next head coach, revealed his future plans.

According to a report by England’s ‘Evening Standard’ on the 30th (hereinafter referred to as Korean time), coach Enrique said, “I have a desire to take the manager’s position in England. However, I will not go to the English Premier League (EPL) stage in July. but received no offers from the club team.”

Coach Enrique took the helm of Barcelona in 2014 after going through AS Roma and Celta Vigo. He led the team for about 3 years and left significant achievements. In the 2014-15 season, he won the Spanish La Liga, UEFA Champions League (UCL), and Copa del Rey, all while achieving a treble. Accordingly, he was awarded the FIFA Manager of the Year Award.

Since 2018, he has worked as a coach for the Spanish national soccer team. He had been away from the team for a while, but he led the team to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar last year, finishing runner-up in the UEFA Nations League and advancing to the semi-finals of Euro 2020. However, he withdrew after being eliminated in the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Enrique has been linked with Tottenham. In line with Antonio Conte’s move, he was mentioned as the number one priority for the next command tower. Earlier this month, Britain’s ‘The Athletic’ reported, “Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy instructed general manager Fabio Paratici to draw up a list of successor coaches. Currently, director Enrique is likely to be Paratici’s number one target.” 스포츠토토

However, coach Enrique has stated that he has no plans to lead the EPL team for the time being. Tottenham is also prioritizing manager Julian Nagelsmann as a candidate for the next manager after the recent departure of manager Conte. Coach Nagelsmann led Bayern Munich through Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig until recently.

However, the task of appointing the next command tower is not expected to be easy. Manager Enrique has virtually no possibility of joining Tottenham, and manager Nagelsmann is also taking time and contemplating the future. Tottenham is not the only team aiming for Nagelsmann. Currently, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are also connected.
