‘Confidence’ is what Chungnam Asan FC needs right now.
Chungnam Asan will face Bucheon FC 1995 in the 23rd round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 at 7:30 p.m. at Yi Sunshin Stadium. Currently, Chungnam Asan (23 points) is in 11th place and Bucheon (34 points) is in 5th place.
Chungnam Asan has been on a steady upward trajectory under head coach Park Dong-hyuk. From 10th place in the 2020 season to 8th place in the 2021 season to 6th place in the 2022 season. Despite the limitations of being a civic club with relatively limited financial resources, Chungnam Asan has slowly created its own identity in the K League 2.
This year, however, they have struggled to make a mark. This is largely due to their inability to win against top clubs such as Gimcheon Commerce, Gyeongnam FC, FC Anyang, and Gimpo FC. But there’s no need to despair. The team showed their mettle against leaders Anyang (2-3 losses) and Gimcheon (2-3 losses). The rest of the season is promising.
Reinforcements, like Altoran, have also been gradual. Colombian striker Afonso and Brazilian winger Hafael add sharpness. They hit the ground running, scoring their debut goal and debut assist, respectively. Add to that Ji-Eon-hak and Lee Jae-sung, who have been playing in the K League for a long time, and the team will challenge for a rebound in the second half.
Bucheon, on the other hand, has a long way to go. While they have been cruising with five wins, three draws, and two losses in their last 10 games, they are by no means safe. They’re playing catch-up between first-place Gimcheon (39 points) and seventh-place Jeonnam Dragons (31 points). They are looking to not only solidify their playoff spot, but also jump to the top of the standings. 메이저사이트
Once again, they will need a solid defense. Bucheon has conceded just 22 goals in 20 games, ranking third in K League 2 in fewest goals allowed. The back three of Lee Dong-hee, Lee Yong-hyuk, Son Seong-kwan, and Kim Sun-ho are anchored by league-leading defender Nilsson Jr. Lee Bum-soo, who has been making dazzling saves, is also a big presence.
In terms of head-to-head record, Bucheon laughs. In their 12 league meetings, they’ve dominated with six wins, four draws, and two losses. More recently, they are unbeaten in six games (three wins and three draws). Chungnam Asan will have to overcome the jinx that has set in since their last victory two years ago. They must somehow boost their confidence and go into the final.
