NC completes sweep of LG.
The NC Dinos won 5-3 against the LG Twins in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League on Sunday at NC Park in Changwon.
NC’s lineup was Son Asub (right fielder), Park Min-woo (second baseman), Park Gun-woo (designated hitter), Jason Martin (center fielder), Kwon Hee-dong (left fielder), Do Tae-hoon (first baseman), Seo Ho-cheol (third baseman), Kim Joo-won (shortstop), and Ahn Jung-yeol (catcher). Choi Sung-young was the starting pitcher.
Im Chan-kyu started the game and LG’s lineup was Hong Chang-ki (right fielder), Shin Min-jae (second baseman), Kim Min-sung (first baseman), Austin Dean (designated hitter), Oh Ji-hwan (shortstop), Moon Bo-kyung (third baseman), Park Dong-won (catcher), Moon Sung-joo (left fielder), and Park Hae-min (center fielder).
In the bottom of the first inning, things changed. LG starter Im Chan-kyu gave up back-to-back singles to Son Asub and Park Min-woo. He then threw a fastball to Park Gun-woo that was hit in the face. It hit Park in the face in his gladiator helmet. Park got up and headed to first base, but was immediately replaced by pinch-hitter Yoon Hyung-jun. Im Chan-kyu apologized to Park Gun-woo. Park Min-woo followed it all the way and threw it out for a double play. Meanwhile, Park Hae-min tagged up to score. However, Hong Chang-ki, who was near the second base, was not able to make it home and was called out. A video review was then conducted. The timing of Hong’s out was similar to the timing of Park’s home run. The review showed that Park’s feet were fast. The run was awarded. However, after the replay, Kang Myung-ho came out to protest and was ejected.
NC immediately regained the lead. Son As-seop singled and Park Min-woo doubled to put runners on second and third with no outs. Yoon Hyung-jun followed with a sacrifice fly. However, they were unable to capitalize and had to settle for a single run.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, NC increased its lead. Seo Ho-cheol and Kim Joo-won hit back-to-back singles. With runners on first and second, Ahn Jung-yeol tried to bunt, but was hit by a pitch. With the bases loaded, Son As-seob walked. Park Min-woo followed with a single to left-center, bringing both runners home.
