With Real Madrid officially announcing the parting of ways with Karim Benzema on Thursday (ET), reports of a move for “Son Heung-min’s teammate” Harry Kane (30, Tottenham) have resurfaced.

Real Madrid have identified Kane as the most likely candidate to fill Benzema’s shoes. They are said to be preparing for a £100 million bidding war with Manchester United. Chelsea starlet Kai Havertz is also on the list. He could be a backup option for Kane if the deal falls through.

Real Madrid have long been interested in Kane. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is expected to offer Real Madrid a starting price of at least £100 million for Kane. However, there is reportedly room for negotiation. 토토사이트

The second option to replace Benzema is Kai Havertz. Realistically, a move for Haberth is more likely. Kane himself is known to favor an English Premier League club. With 213 career goals, just 47 shy of Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record of 260, Kane is motivated by the record, but he is also likely to be reluctant to move to Madrid as he and his family are settled in London and his wife Katie is pregnant with their fourth child.

This contradicts Levy’s position. Levy is adamant that Tottenham will not sell any of its valuable assets to a domestic rival. Given his unwillingness to deal with a club in England, Real Madrid may have some wiggle room to negotiate a transfer fee below £100 million.

Real Madrid could use the fact that Kane could play alongside England teammate Jude Bellingham to their advantage, but the general consensus is that it would be more complicated than signing Haberth. Kane’s contract with Tottenham runs until next summer. If Kane were to leave Tottenham in the summer transfer window, Spurs would be forced to let him go as a free agent without a transfer fee.
